Welcome to The First Microbiology Undergraduate Symposium (MUSym2017). MUSym2017 is an initiative by the Department of Microbiology, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This symposium is the first ever organized for the microbiology undergraduates. The Department is proud to be able to provide the avenue for undergraduates from all over Malaysia to exchange ideas, establish collaboration and muster a gateway to future innovative and collaborative expeditions for the advancement of the microbiological world. This will be the platform for students to share, interact, network and learn from each other over the one-day symposium.

Submission of Abstract
Abstracts for oral and poster presentations must be limited to 300 words in single spacing using Arial font size 11 in Microsoft Word format. The title should be in capital letters, bold and 14 point. The names of authors, their affiliations and the email address of the corresponding author should appear below the title font 12. If there is more than one author, underline presenting author. The abstract must be submitted as an email attachment file to musym2017@gmail.com. Only registered participants will have their abstracts published as an e-book. One registered participant is entitled to ONLY one entry for a paper/poster submission. Paper/poster presenters will be notified by the scientific committee.
GUIDELINE FOR SCREENCAST
In this MUSym2017, we also provide you with an alternative opportunity to broadcast your research to a wider audience by screencasting your presentation. The screencasting must be prepared comprising an audio commentary with video capturing of the commentor and images of the presentation. The screencast must be compatible for windows operating system using freeware licensing. The whole screencasting must be done using English language for a maximum 10 minutes presentation. Completed screencasting presentation must be submitted to musym2017@gmail.com latest by 15 May 2017. Each screencast will be peer-reviewed and will be uploaded on the MUSym2017 website.
PECHAKUCHA MICROBES
PECHAKUCHA MICROBES is a Japanese style oral presentation. Presentation is in the form of 20 slides of images, the images advance automatically and you talk along to the images. Each slide is 20 seconds (6 minutes and 40 seconds in total). The theme is Microbes in Action! It is open to ALL microbiology students.
